Rope (1948)
Movie
Released
The hosts have concealed a murder in the very room where they entertain the victim's acquaintances. Alfred Hitchcock turns serving, tidying and a guest's apparently casual questions into threats to their control. The audience knows the danger early, making this a lesson in suspense built from hospitality rather than a whodunnit.
