Chappell Roan

Roan's rapid rise in 2024 followed years of writing, releasing music and rebuilding after Atlantic dropped her in 2020. The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess had arrived in 2023 before its audience expanded dramatically the following year. The earlier singles and performances make the development of her theatrical pop language visible. Start with that sequence rather than the festival crowds alone. Her story shows how a performer can look newly arrived to a mass audience after a long period of deliberate creative construction.
