George Lucas

Lucas retained an unusually valuable position in the business built around Star Wars, including its merchandising operation. When Disney bought Lucasfilm in 2012, Lucas was its sole owner and the announced transaction valued the company at about $4.05 billion in cash and shares. Licensing was part of a wider rights-and-production enterprise whose ownership could eventually be sold as a whole.
