Robert Bosch

Bosch built an automotive supply business around reliable ignition equipment. Solving a component problem allowed his factories to serve many vehicle manufacturers rather than compete with each one in car production. He retained 51 per cent when the business became a private stock corporation in 1917. The later foundation structure changed where much of the ownership income went, while preserving the industrial enterprise.
