Gianfranco Fini

Fini's rupture with Silvio Berlusconi in 2010 broke apart the leadership partnership behind the People of Freedom party. His supporters formed Future and Freedom, while he remained president of Italy's Chamber of Deputies until the parliamentary term ended. In the 2013 election his new formation failed to win parliamentary representation and he was not re-elected. The lost authority came in stages: separation from a major party, followed by the failure of a replacement electoral vehicle, rather than immediate removal from the speakership.
