Frank Field, Baron Field of Birkenhead
Person
Born
Field resigned the Labour whip in 2018, citing antisemitism and intimidation within the party, while local disputes also surrounded his relationship with Labour activists. He contested Birkenhead in 2019 for the Birkenhead Social Justice Party and lost decisively to Labour's Mick Whitley. Forty years of constituency service did not carry his Commons seat across the split. His later appointment to the House of Lords means this was the loss of an elected position, not the end of every parliamentary role.
