Seinfeld (1989)
TV Show
First aired
Tiny social irritations become elaborate comic traps, with Jerry, George, Elaine and Kramer each making things worse in a different way. The pleasure is in watching apparently separate stories collide with an inevitability that feels both absurd and exact. It belongs near the top for that plotting and the cast's refusal to make selfishness cuddly. The early episodes are quieter; the fully developed ensemble is the real attraction.
