Cesc Fàbregas

Fàbregas's first-time pass to André Schürrle at Burnley in 2014 turned Branislav Ivanović's delivery into a much cleaner shooting opportunity. A controlling touch would have allowed the defence to recover; instead, he redirected the ball into the runner's path. It is an especially good example of preparation before receiving. The pass looks simple only after it has happened, when the viewer already knows which movement Fàbregas had recognised.
