N'Golo Kanté

Kanté's 2021 Champions League final was a lesson in influencing both sides of possession. He covered ground, interrupted Manchester City's attacks and helped Chelsea move out, earning UEFA's Player of the Match award. The technical observers also stressed his partnership with Jorginho. That matters: Kanté was an active, mobile midfielder within a balanced pair, not simply a player stationed alone in front of the defence. His movement worked because the surrounding structure supported it.
