Sergio Busquets

Busquets gave Barcelona a dependable route between defence and the more advanced midfielders. His positioning and passing made him available when a team-mate needed a way out, while keeping him close to the spaces an opponent might attack after possession changed. Alongside Xavi and Iniesta, he helped turn individual technical quality into a functioning midfield. His case is built on those repeated decisions, not the idea that a defensive midfielder must constantly slide into tackles.
