Saoirse Ronan

Ronan's Atonement breakthrough depended on the uncomfortable conviction of a child who misunderstands what she sees. Brooklyn, Lady Bird and Little Women later gave that intensity very different emotional settings. Her collaborations with Greta Gerwig are especially rewarding for readers interested in career development: the adult actor can make a familiar coming-of-age story feel specific through rhythm, humour and sharply observed relationships.
