Wild Cards (2024)

A con artist and a demoted detective need one another's skills even when each would prefer to control the arrangement. Wild Cards keeps official authority on one side and a different understanding of human behaviour on the other. Its playful cases make the changing balance easy to enjoy without demanding a relentlessly bleak mood. The attraction is watching a rule become a useful tool in one scene and an obstacle in the next.
