Enlightened (2011)

Laura Dern's Amy returns from treatment determined to live more thoughtfully, without losing her capacity to make other people's days difficult. Mike White gives her wish to help and need to be recognised equal attention. The workplace setting replaces the hotel, but the discomfort around self-improvement is closely related. This critically admired HBO series struggled for an audience and ended after two seasons.
