Vikings (2013)

Ragnar's ambitions expand into a saga about rulers, heirs and the consequences of treating exploration as destiny. Choose it for the way family bonds become political liabilities as the world grows. It is a myth-inflected historical drama rather than a reliable record, with stylised battles and religious conflict doing much of the emotional work.
