Paper Girls (2022)

Four newspaper-delivery girls from 1988 encounter a future that has not turned out as any of them expected. Their arguments, uneasy alliances and differing family backgrounds give the time-travel premise its particular appeal. It is an especially close choice if the friendships mattered more than Stranger Things' monsters. The television adaptation was cancelled after one season and leaves its larger story unfinished.
