The Fades (2011)

A teenager sees dead people who cannot move on, and their predicament develops into a conflict about neglect and the desire to return. Friendship and awkward adolescence stop the supernatural mythology becoming an abstract exercise. Its BAFTA-winning six-episode run is a striking dark-fantasy discovery, although cancellation prevented the intended continuation.
