Two divers are left without a stable platform from which to solve anything. The film strips away reassuring action-movie equipment and lets waiting become corrosive. It was inspired by a real disappearance, but its imagined private ordeal is not a documented account. Shark anxiety and exposure matter more than ingenious escape tricks.
