The Martian (2015)
Movie
Released
A stranded astronaut breaks one enormous predicament into problems he can test. Matt Damon's humour makes the arithmetic feel social rather than triumphantly mechanical. This is the most buoyant option here, with a large rescue effort beyond the solitary work; its plausible-seeming experiments still belong to science-fiction entertainment.
