Aashram (2020)

A religious leader's influence is sustained by followers, intermediaries and political relationships, not belief alone. Bobby Deol's Baba Nirala sits at the centre of a system that offers access while making people dependent. The series is lurid and contains sexual abuse and exploitation; its place here comes from the machinery connecting a public spiritual image to organised worldly power.
