The Miniaturist (2017)

A young bride enters an Amsterdam merchant household whose miniature replica seems to know more than she does. Material objects and expensive surfaces conceal the constraints governing marriage, trade and sexuality. The adaptation is a gothic historical mystery, useful for a museum-minded viewer who enjoys the social work performed by a cabinet, a gift or a carefully arranged room.
