Kim's Convenience (2016)

The Kims' Toronto convenience store puts family history in daily contact with customers and children who do not interpret every obligation in the same way. Kim's Convenience makes those differences useful comic material without needing each conversation to explain immigration from the beginning. Choose it for the continuing negotiation between Korean immigrant parents and their Canadian-born adult children. The shop provides a recurring public place where private assumptions become difficult to keep separate.
