Treme (2010)

Musicians, cooks and neighbours rebuild their lives in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Restaurant work belongs to a much wider picture of who gets to preserve a culture and who can afford to keep making it. The ensemble gives patient attention to practice, local knowledge and the people serving somebody else's idea of excellence. It is less relentlessly compressed than The Bear, with music and meals allowed to occupy real time.
