The work of sorting a huge postal backlog becomes a question of whether service and grief can reach the people waiting for news. Kerry Washington's Major Charity Adams leads a dramatised portrait of the predominantly Black Women's Army Corps battalion. Its emphatic style is less restrained than other choices, but its focus on military labour is welcome.
