The Empress (2022)

Elisabeth's marriage takes her into a Viennese court whose expectations extend far beyond public ceremony. The 2022 German-language The Empress uses clothes, access and family authority to make her new position feel like an apprenticeship with very little privacy. Pick it for a heroine learning that being given a grand title does not mean controlling what the title allows. It is a dramatised romance, rather than a substitute for a historical account.
