The Son (2017)

Two periods in a Texas patriarch's life expose the violence behind a family's account of its own success. Land, cattle and oil connect intimate loyalty to the machinery of accumulation. Pierce Brosnan's authority gives the saga weight, while its two-season completed television run refuses to treat inheritance as an innocent reward.
