The Game (2014)

A small MI5 committee in 1972 London tries to interpret a Soviet defector's warning while its members bring competing loyalties into the room. Brian Cox's department head and Paul Ritter's prickly colleague give the institutional hierarchy real personality. The 2014 miniseries is more reserved than Slow Horses, with the pleasure coming from watching a team assemble an account it cannot safely take for granted.
