A father tries to protect children whose ability to see makes them exceptional and politically dangerous in a society that has developed without sight. The three-season drama turns guardianship into a conflict between family, belief and power. It shares the pressure of protecting a young person whom the wider world wants to define as a resource or threat. The fantasy world-building and brutal combat are much more expansive.
