In Treatment makes an appointment a sustained encounter rather than a short explanation inserted between other events. A patient's account can change while the therapist is still listening, and a question can reveal as much about the person asking it as the person answering. Start with the American series for concentrated two-person drama that allows uncertainty to remain audible. The recurring sessions reward attention to what changes in the way somebody begins a familiar story.
