Wentworth (2013)

Wentworth makes the women's prison a changing network of access, protection and informal authority. A door opening can alter the balance between prisoners as much as an official decision by staff. Pick the Australian drama for a long, intense ensemble series in which the institution keeps forcing people back into contact. The violence and coercion are substantial; this is a sustained social system rather than a brief prison detour in somebody else's story.
