Small Axe (2020)

Begin Small Axe with Mangrove, the anthology's account of a restaurant community confronting police harassment and defending itself after a demonstration. The move from a threatened meeting place to organised protest and collective legal defence gives this choice its connection. The other films explore different lives rather than repeating one campaign. Choose Mangrove for solidarity with distinct voices inside it, while expecting racial abuse and institutional violence to remain part of the experience.
