A police inspector has to solve a series of killings as the deadline of Nigerian independence approaches in 1960. Kunle Afolayan uses that pressure to expose the distrust and authority structures surrounding an apparently local investigation. Sadiq Daba's watchfulness gives a newcomer a clear person to follow through the competing accounts. A useful period contrast to the Lagos crime films, with sexual abuse and violence against women central to its disturbing mystery.
