Hannibal (2013)

The opening murders can suggest an elegant case-of-the-week thriller. By the thirteen-episode first finale, Will and Hannibal's relationship has made the investigative frame far less stable. Rewatching the opening can expose how trust was being arranged. The reason to return is psychological and formal, with extreme body horror throughout; it never turns into an easier version of itself.
