Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency (2016)

An improbable detective insists that apparently unrelated events belong together, dragging a much less willing companion into the consequences. The 2016 version makes colourful strangeness and mismatched personalities part of the mystery's machinery. It suits viewers who enjoyed Wednesday's confidence that an odd detail deserves attention, but is far more chaotic and violently absurd. The two-season run was cancelled before all its larger plots could develop.
