Influence (2021)

A woman’s account of crimes involving three friends draws a novelist into a troubling history. The perspective matters as much as the events, with knowledge moving unevenly between the women and the person hearing their story. This compact adaptation of Fumie Kondo’s novel is a good choice for readers who enjoy friendship, memory and obligation as the machinery of a mystery.
