The Pursuit of Love (2021)

Two cousins take different routes through love and the expectations of their English upper-class world. Lily James's restless Linda and Emily Beecham's more watchful Fanny make friendship a continuing counterpoint to romantic excitement. The three-part 2021 adaptation is playful in style but not a promise that passion will make a life work. It suits viewers who enjoy a confident romantic heroine and are willing to question her account of happiness.
