My Brilliant Friend (2018)

Elena and Lila’s friendship develops through a Naples neighbourhood where education, money and family loyalties open very different doors. The long span allows a small decision to acquire consequences years later. Adapted from Elena Ferrante’s novels, it is the strongest starting point here for watching personal possibility change alongside the social world that first defined it.
