Shining Girls (2022)

Kirby's investigation has to proceed while familiar parts of her world become unstable, making evidence and personal continuity unusually difficult to separate. Shining Girls shares Dark's interest in an earlier event continuing to organise the present in ways its characters cannot initially see. Choose it for a survivor-led thriller rather than a family epic. Serial violence and trauma are central, with the speculative structure intensifying rather than smoothing over their effect.
