The country-house guests require constant service, while the people providing it hear things their employers barely notice saying. That divided field of knowledge makes Robert Altman's ensemble an especially rewarding companion to Knives Out's concern with privilege. The overlapping conversation asks for closer listening than a brisk detective romp. Come for the suspicious manners, stay for the workers whose lives complicate the puzzle.
