The Thing (1982)
Movie
Released
Rooms, corridors and the gaps between separated crew members make trust depend on events no one has witnessed. John Carpenter can show an extraordinary creature, then make an ordinary person walking out of sight more troubling. The body horror is explicit; its offscreen suspense comes from the limits of shared observation.
