Night in the Woods (2017)

Walking home and choosing whom to spend time with reveal the distance between an old friendship and the person it has become. Its animal characters have recognisably adult worries about work, money and leaving, carried by dialogue with a sharp ear for awkwardness. The town's routines are part of the storytelling. Some light platforming and musical minigames sit alongside the reading, while the subject matter includes mental ill health and economic decline.
