Dragon Age: Origins (2009)

Loghain's determination to protect Ferelden is rooted in a history of occupation, making his fear of foreign power coherent. The tragedy is how that fear narrows his judgement and licenses harm to the people he claims to defend. A substantial party RPG for readers who want to interrogate patriotism and political necessity, with choices more uncomfortable than a tidy morality score.
