A wreck's shape or a tower above the dunes gives you a reason to leave the road before anyone has assigned a task there. Climbing and a hoverbike make the desert inviting to investigate, and conversations put its ruins into a lived history. Badges and collectibles can become a completion project, but they need not set the pace. The lasting reward is choosing the places and people that define this pilgrimage.
