Arthur Dent's terrible day expands from a threatened house to the destruction of Earth. Adams keeps interrupting the adventure with absurd explanations, petty bureaucracy and jokes that make the narrator part of the entertainment. Try the first novel if comedy podcasts and ridiculous conversations are your natural territory. Its pleasure is the comic detour, so choose something else if you want every scene to move directly towards a tidy destination.
