Born a Crime (2016)

Trevor Noah tells stories of growing up in South Africa with a comedian's ear for absurd situations and a sharp sense of what they cost. The episodes give you satisfying places to pause, while his relationship with his mother supplies a thread worth following. A strong starting point if a lively personal story appeals more than an invented world. Racism, domestic abuse and violence are substantial parts of the account.
