Background, class, skills, spells and earlier discoveries can all give a conversation more possibilities, while companions make some decisions personally uncomfortable. Its substantial tactical battles remain a central attraction. A character skilled at handling people can open a different route through a situation, and an unsuccessful roll can lead somewhere worth playing through.
