A shield and spear make an encounter about patience and safe openings; a light melee fighter or ranged spellcaster must manage quite different distances. Weapons, spells and Ashes of War give the base adventure plenty of room for another character. Respecialising unlocks during the campaign and uses limited materials, so early choices still deserve a little thought.
