Preparing a barricaded shelter changes how you listen to the woods after dark. A sound outside your limited view can hold your attention long before anything reaches you. Its design favours sustained atmosphere, although a sudden attack can still startle. This is a harsh survival choice with difficult combat, scarce resources and grotesque imagery; the fear grows from deciding what to risk and when to move.
