A moving threat, a changing map condition or a race to collect something gives many Terran missions a distinct shape. Between missions, research and purchased upgrades let the campaign develop beyond the standard multiplayer unit roster. Choose it for inventive objectives and a smooth return to base-building RTS; Wings of Liberty is free through Battle.net. Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void are separate paid campaigns, and harder settings still ask you to manage economy and army at once.
