Simultaneous turn resolution also asks you to anticipate an opponent's movement instead of reacting after every step. Learn the economy and internal stability before stretching your borders. Empires resolves battles itself; the separately sold Field of Glory II is optional for taking tactical control. Choose it for thinking about an ancient state's endurance as much as its expansion.
