Time After Time (1979)
Movie
Released
H. G. Wells pursues Jack the Ripper into modern San Francisco, where two ideas of progress confront the same new world. The time machine provides clear pursuit mechanics, while their contrasting reactions make the journey worth discussing. This older choice is an accessible adventure with romance, rather than one of the list's dense recursive constructions.
